I haven't used my ps3 super slim in a while, I'm talking like 3 years. I found it laying around the other day and tried to start it up. I noticed that every time I try to start it up it just beeps once and turns off. I hear the fan inside spin for just a second and then immediately stops.

The disc spinning may be a little louder than the other models because of how the disc door opens and how thin it is. The fan isn't too loud for my taste but it gets the job done. My PlayStation 3 Slims recently stopped functioning properly - it no longer would read discs put into the optical drive. This is frequently caused by a mechanical failure involving the lens in the optical drive. In my specific case, the disc would be accepted into the PS3, and it would spin the disc slightly, only to stop a second later. Use the dry side of the swab to then dry the laser off in the same motion. If you still get DRE (disc read error) then you will have to replace the laser. Ok it does just sound like it has a hell of a time to read the disk, but your disk at least spins. Just wanted to make sure you worm laser gear was working or not.
